NPA fulfills promise made to international seafarers

Under the leadership of Mohammed Bello Koko, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has successfully delivered on its commitment to the global seafaring community by revitalizing its Nigerian outpost, the Mission to Seafarers (MTS), situated on Marine Road Apapa GRA.

In March 2023, Mohammed Bello Koko, accompanied by Chief Adebayo Sarumi, former Managing Director of the NPA and the Nigeria Head of the Mission to Seafarers, visited the MTS facility and expressed deep concern over its deteriorating condition. He pledged to elevate it to international standards.

During a recent pre-commissioning inspection of the facility, Bello Koko emphasized, “Recognizing that the establishment of a conducive environment for the physical and mental well-being of seafarers is a global benchmark for port evaluations, we promptly allocated resources to renovate and furnish this facility to international standards, befitting a maritime nation of Nigeria’s stature.”

In response, Chief Adebayo Sarumi, the Head of the Mission, praised the NPA Management for prioritizing the welfare of seafarers and commended the swift and diligent execution of the project.
