NSCC names minister Yilwatda as ambassador for senior citizens

The National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) has appointed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Natawe Goshwe Yilwatda, as its Ambassador in recognition of his outstanding commitment to humanitarian service and the welfare of the elderly.

The appointment was announced in Jos, Plateau State, during activities marking the National Day of Older Persons, held alongside a six-day medical outreach jointly organized by the NSCC and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

According to a statement from the Centre, Professor Yilwatda’s new role underscores his dedication to poverty reduction, social inclusion, and the protection of vulnerable groups, particularly senior citizens.

“As NSCC Ambassador, Professor Yilwatda will serve as a leading advocate for the rights, dignity, and well-being of older persons across Nigeria,” the statement said. “His leadership and commitment are expected to drive impactful initiatives that promote healthy, active, and inclusive aging in alignment with the Centre’s national mandate.”

The NSCC expressed optimism that the partnership will strengthen ongoing efforts to advance policies and programmes that uplift and empower the elderly in communities nationwide.
