The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing grassroots security and community-based intelligence as key strategies for addressing insecurity across the country.
Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Audi, made this known during his working visit to Anambra State as part of his ongoing strategic operational tour of the South East region.
During a courtesy call on Governor Charles Soludo at the Government House, Awka, Prof. Audi explained that the visit aimed to assess personnel welfare, evaluate operational challenges in the field, and strengthen the Corps’ capacity to deliver on its mandate.
He commended the Anambra State Government for its proactive approach to peace and stability, while seeking enhanced logistical and infrastructural support to boost the Corps’ performance.
“Security must begin from the grassroots. That is where the people live, work, and build the future,” Audi said. “The Corps remains resolute in delivering quality service and ensuring that the confidence of Nigerians, particularly Ndi Anambra, in our operations is not misplaced.”
Governor Soludo, in his remarks, applauded the NSCDC for its professionalism, discipline, and resilience, particularly in safeguarding critical national assets and public infrastructure.
He said, “Here in Anambra, the Light of the Nation, our greatest asset is our people — creative, enterprising, and innovative. Ensuring their safety and prosperity is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate the NSCDC for standing firm in that mission.”
The governor pledged continued collaboration with the Corps, emphasizing that security remains the foundation of the state’s economic and innovation-driven growth.
The Commandant General’s tour of Anambra forms part of a nationwide operational assessment aimed at enhancing personnel welfare, operational readiness, and inter-agency synergy. The initiative reflects the NSCDC’s renewed focus on community trust, proactive engagement, and service excellence under Prof. Audi’s leadership.
