The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has assured the public of a secure and peaceful Eid-El-Fitr celebration, following the massive deployment of personnel across all states and formations in the country.
Addressing recent security concerns, including pipeline vandalism and critical infrastructure attacks, Audi warned that acts of sabotage would not be tolerated due to their detrimental impact on the nation’s economy. He commended the recent joint operations of the Armed Forces, Department of State Services (DSS), Police, and NSCDC in Rivers State, which thwarted an attempted attack on oil installations in Allu-Rumuekpe, Emuoha Local Government Area.
The NSCDC Chief emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration, stating that coordinated efforts among security agencies are crucial to curbing crime. He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and maintaining law and order, urging the public to provide credible intelligence to enhance security operations.
To prevent potential security threats during and after the Sallah celebrations, Audi directed the deployment of personnel from various tactical units, including the Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshal, Crack Squad, Special Forces, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Female Special Forces, and the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (DII). All operatives have been placed on high alert to ensure swift response to any security challenges.
Furthermore, he instructed all State Commandants, particularly those in coastal areas, to adhere to the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedures and effectively utilize security equipment to maintain order during the festivities.
Audi reiterated the need for professionalism and dedication among officers, highlighting that criminals often exploit festive periods for illicit activities. He urged security personnel to uphold their responsibilities with diligence and loyalty to the nation, ensuring a safe and incident-free Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
