The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) has strongly condemned the recent extrajudicial killing of suspected kidnappers in Uromi, Edo State.
In a statement on Saturday, IPCR Director General, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, expressed deep shock and sadness over the incident, calling it a “heinous” violation of human rights and a threat to the rule of law. He urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
IPCR emphasized the government’s duty to protect lives and property, stressing that justice must be served to prevent further violence. The Institute also called for measures to address the root causes of insecurity, advocating for a comprehensive approach to peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
Extending condolences to the victims’ families, the Institute reaffirmed its commitment to fostering national peace and stability. It urged community leaders, civil society organizations, and the media to collaborate in promoting dialogue and conflict prevention.
