Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has expressed his admiration for the courageous and patriotic efforts demonstrated by the members of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the midst of various security challenges prevalent throughout the nation.
This commendation was conveyed during an engagement held in Abuja on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, as Mr. Olukoyede welcomed students from the Departments of Intelligence, Security Science, and Cyber Security of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, who were undertaking a study tour of the EFCC.
Highlighting the valor and sacrifices exhibited by the armed forces in ensuring peace and security within the country, Mr. Olukoyede acknowledged the steadfast dedication of officers and personnel in confronting adversity, often at great personal risk. Representing the EFCC’s leadership, Mohammed Hammajoda underscored the necessity for continuous investment in the training and development of military personnel, particularly in the realm of intelligence gathering, to effectively counter the evolving challenges posed by cyber insecurity and related crimes. He assured the cadets that their exposure to the EFCC’s intelligence methodologies and operational procedures would enrich their understanding and readiness to tackle emerging threats.

In alignment with the educational objectives of the visit, Navy Captain I R, Saidu, representing the NDA Commandant, emphasized the importance of acquainting cadets with contemporary tools, techniques, and practices in intelligence operations. Furthermore, the EFCC’s Director of Information Communication Technology, Isha J. Abdullahi, advocated for enhanced investment in ICT infrastructure and skills development, emphasizing the imperative of adapting to technological advancements, including social media and digital currencies, while prioritizing cybersecurity measures.
Encouraging active participation in the fight against corruption and cybercrimes, Assistant Commander Aisha Muhammed urged the cadets to consider themselves as ambassadors of the EFCC, promoting integrity and accountability within their spheres of influence. She assured the cadets of the EFCC’s support in establishing a Zero Tolerance Club within the NDA campus.
The study tour encompassed lectures on various pertinent topics, including the positive utilization of social media, intelligence strategies, cybersecurity, and cybercrime awareness. Additionally, the cadets visited the EFCC Radio Station, further enriching their learning experience.
