- Mission’s Public Diplomacy Section in Abuja Partners with Toyin Wiggins Centre for Leadership and Mentoring Initiative to Empower Women in Conflict-Affected Region
In a bid to drive gender-inclusivity and economic development, the Mission’s Public Diplomacy Section in Abuja has joined forces with the Toyin Wiggins Centre for Leadership and Mentoring Initiative to empower 25 young women impacted by conflict in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria.
Through a collaborative effort, the beneficiaries underwent training sessions focused on digital skills, green entrepreneurship, and leadership. The initiative aims to not only equip these women with the necessary tools to thrive economically but also to promote inclusive growth and foster peacebuilding within the conflict-prone community.

The partnership underscores a commitment to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by women in conflict-affected regions, recognizing their potential as agents of change and key contributors to sustainable development. By providing targeted training and support, the initiative seeks to create opportunities for women to actively participate in economic activities while simultaneously promoting peace and stability in their communities.
The training program represents a tangible step towards achieving gender equality and empowering women in Nigeria, aligning with broader efforts to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through strategic collaborations and grassroots initiatives, stakeholders continue to work towards building a more inclusive and prosperous society where women can fully realize their potential and contribute to the nation’s development trajectory.
