As part of Operation DELTA SANITY, Naval Outpost KOLUAMA have successfully located and dismantled an illegal refining site near Koulama II Community in Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa State. The operation, conducted on Monday, March 11, 2024, resulted in the deactivation of the illicit facility and the seizure of approximately 3,000 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The outpost, operating under the directives of the Nigerian Navy, deployed its personnel to investigate reports of unauthorized refining activities in the area. Upon arrival, naval forces discovered the clandestine operation, which posed a significant environmental and security threat to the region.
The illegal refining site, concealed behind Koulama II Community, was promptly shut down by naval operatives to prevent further environmental degradation and curb the proliferation of illicit oil activities in the region.
