In a decisive operation by the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) under Operation Lake Sanity 2, 34 women and children were rescued from Boko Haram terrorists on June 15, 2024. The operation, conducted by Task Force Wulgo, targeted the villages of Mazuri, Itsari, Mudu, and Maleri on the southern fringes of Lake Chad in Nigeria, resulting in the neutralization of one terrorist.
On June 17, 2024, three Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters surrendered at Jabilaram camp, a remote islet on Lake Chad. The fighters, Babakura Abubakar (20), Abacha Kyari (28), and Mohammad Adam (29), are currently being interrogated.
MNJTF’s Chief Military Public Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, reported a successful airstrike on June 9, 2024, at Kollaram, destroying three suicide vehicle-borne IEDs. This operation highlights the effectiveness of MNJTF’s air and ground units in targeting high-value threats.
MNJTF’s continued efforts are significantly weakening terrorist factions in the region, aiming to restore peace and stability. Force Commander Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali praised the troops’ bravery and reaffirmed MNJTF’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring civilian safety.
