Air strikes conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji on June 15, 2024, resulted in the elimination of over 80 terrorists and the destruction of 45 motorcycles in Gidan Kare Village, Ruwan Godiya Ward, Faskari LGA, Katsina State.
According to Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the operation was prompted by intelligence indicating that over 100 terrorists were setting fire to houses near Gidan Kare Village. Upon arriving at 8:30 PM, air reconnaissance observed multiple fires and terrorists assembling near Gidan Kare Village and Kuka Shidda Camp. At 9:40 PM, a precision strike was authorized and executed, confirming over 80 terrorists neutralized and significantly disrupting their activities.
Further intelligence linked the neutralized terrorists to notorious kingpins Yusuf Yellow and Rabe Imani. This strike, among others, has considerably diminished terrorist operations in the area.
On June 17, 2024, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, praised the Air Component’s efforts at the 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina. He acknowledged their role in enhancing regional security and urged continued dedication to combating terrorism. Marshal Abubakar also inaugurated new airfield facilities to enhance operational efficiency in the Northwest.
