In a scathing indictment, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called upon the All-Progressives Congress (APC) to reveal the truth regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic records at the Chicago State University (CSU), alleging that the APC’s lawyers in the United States are making desperate attempts to withhold crucial information from the public.
The PDP In a statement Signed by its National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba asserted that the legal maneuvering by APC’s legal team, aimed at preventing the US District Court of Illinois from disclosing President Tinubu’s academic details, directly contradicts President Tinubu’s public claims of having impeccable academic records. The PDP recalls an instance where President Tinubu had publicly boasted of his academic achievements, stating, “I was one of those most recruited graduates of my university, multiple honours, First Class Degree and I have the reference point.”
In light of this assertion, the PDP argues that the plea by President Tinubu’s lawyers to keep his academic records confidential is a disservice not only to President Tinubu but also to Nigeria as a whole. The PDP further suggests that such desperate attempts to conceal vital information align with the APC’s history of craftiness and clandestine dealings in their interactions with Nigerians, which, they claim, have intensified under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje.
The appointment of Dr. Ganduje as the APC’s National Chairman, despite facing allegations of corruption and bribery, is cited as evidence of the party’s willingness to tolerate misconduct and deceit. Moreover, the PDP expresses concern about the APC’s silence on allegations and public suspicions of sabotage in the fire outbreak at the Supreme Court on Monday, September 25, 2023. The fire incident is suspected to have been an arson attack aimed at disrupting the handling of Presidential Election Appeals pending before the Supreme Court.
The PDP calls on the APC to acknowledge its moral duty to be transparent with Nigerians and the world, emphasizing that failure to do so is condemnable. They point to a series of probes and inquiries initiated by the APC since 2015, many of which remain unresolved, as evidence of the party’s opacity.
In conclusion, the PDP asserts that the APC poses a significant threat to Nigeria’s democracy and calls upon all well-meaning individuals, both within the country and internationally, to stand resolute in defense of democracy, transparency, and the rule of law, especially during this critical period.
