PDP candidate withdraws for APC in Bwari Area Council race

Less than 72 hours to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, has withdrawn from the race in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Joshua Ishaku Musa.

Adamu announced his decision on Thursday, citing consultations with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as instrumental to his withdrawal.

Addressing supporters, Adamu said he had engaged in “deep consultations” with the minister and reached the conclusion that he and Musa shared a longstanding relationship that should not be undermined by political rivalry.

“It will not be nice for two brothers to fight themselves over one office,” he said, declaring that he had relinquished his candidacy in favour of Musa. He also urged his supporters to transfer their backing to the APC flag bearer to ensure victory at the polls.

Speaking at the event, Wike appealed directly to residents of Bwari to support the APC candidate, promising increased infrastructural development if Musa is elected.

“If you vote for Joshua, I will do more roads in Bwari,” the minister said, urging voters to turn out on Saturday and ensure Musa’s emergence as chairman.

The FCT Area Council elections are scheduled to hold on Saturday across the six area councils of the territory.
