The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the constitution of its National Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party’s national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, appointed as chairman.
The party said the council would provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise Nigerians around its vision of building a new, just and prosperous country.
Under the announced arrangement, former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will serve as co-chairman, while the party’s National Chairman and vice-presidential candidate, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, will serve as vice-chairman.
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was named co-vice-chairman, while the party’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as council secretary.
Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council.
According to the party, the council is expected to drive a people-centred and issue-based campaign, with emphasis on mobilising support across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.
The NDC called on its members, supporters and Nigerians committed to national development to remain united and focused as the party prepares for the elections.
It said the campaign would be guided by its commitment to national renewal, social justice and prosperity, urging supporters to work collectively towards what it described as the task of rescuing the country.
The constitution of the council marks a key step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, as political parties begin organising their campaign structures and strategies ahead of the polls.
