PDP Northern stakeholders endorse Tanimu Turaki as consensus candidate for national chairman

Northern stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have unanimously endorsed Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, as the consensus candidate for the position of National Chairman ahead of the party’s forthcoming national convention.

The decision was reached after extensive consultations during the Northern PDP stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja, where party leaders from across the region presented Turaki as their unified choice.

The move comes as part of efforts to strengthen internal unity and ensure regional balance within the PDP ahead of its 2025 elective national convention, scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

At the meeting, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to party cohesion and equitable representation, noting that the chairmanship position had been zoned to the North-West geopolitical zone to promote inclusiveness and stability within the PDP.

The endorsement of Turaki, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and long-time party loyalist, is seen as a major step toward consolidating consensus within the party’s Northern bloc ahead of the crucial convention.
