Personnel Welfare: IGP authorizes promotion of 10,581 inspectors, rank, and file

Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has granted approval for the promotion of ten thousand, five hundred and eighty-one (10,581) deserving junior officers within the Inspectorate Cadre and the Rank and File.

In a formal communication, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that pursuant to this directive, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration (DIG DFA) has been entrusted with orchestrating collaborative efforts alongside the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to expeditiously initiate the promotion process.

The breakdown of these promotions comprises nine thousand, eight hundred and thirty-one (9,831) Police Constables poised for elevation to the rank of Corporal, eighty-one (81) Corporals anticipated to progress to the rank of Sergeant, and six hundred and sixty-nine (669) officers slated for advancement from the rank of Sergeants to Inspectors.

Highlighting the commitment of the Force’s leadership to cultivate a culture of meritocracy and career progression, the Inspector General of Police underscores the significance of timely promotions in nurturing officers’ morale and fortifying the overall efficiency of the Force. He underscores that these promotions are integral to sustaining the ongoing manpower development endeavors of the Nigeria Police Force and reaffirms that they will be executed solely based on merit.
