- CP Ammani orders thorough investigation and prosecution to serve as deterrent
Police operatives from the Nsukka Area Command of the Enugu State Command have apprehended Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi, also known as MC Sharp, a 32-year-old male; Chinenye Agbo, also known as Star Ella Ada, a 26-year-old female; and Anastasia Onu, a 26-year-old female. In an official statement, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relations Officer at the State Headquarters in GRA, Enugu, reported that these individuals, along with others who remain at large, were implicated in a widely circulated video. The video depicted Chinenye allegedly being subjected to physical abuse, her clothes forcibly torn and removed, and her hair forcefully shaved. These actions were supposedly in response to allegations that Chinenye had assaulted Anastasia, who is in a relationship with Obed.
According to Ndukwe, initial investigations have uncovered that the trio’s explanation for the distressing video – which has ignited significant public outrage and criticism due to the brutal and degrading treatment inflicted on Chinenye – is that it was intended as a prank to attract more followers to their social media accounts.
Condemning the incident, Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Enugu to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter. He further ordered the prosecution of those found responsible, with the aim of setting a deterrent example for anyone contemplating similar acts disguised as pranks.
