The Department of Federal Intelligence – Intelligence Response Team (DFI-IRT) operatives, on February 5th, 2024 acting on actionable intelligence, received information regarding the whereabouts of a notorious bandit group in the suburbs of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Confirming the report, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the group was reportedly led by one Isa Dei-Dei. In response, the operatives swiftly proceeded to the identified location with the intention of effecting arrests.
He said upon arrival, the operatives encountered the bandits who, upon sighting the law enforcement presence, attempted to evade capture.
Adejobi said a pursuit ensued, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire between the operatives and the bandits. During the exchange, the notorious Isa Dei-Dei was neutralized. However, other members of the criminal syndicate managed to escape, albeit sustaining gunshot wounds.
In light of this incident, law enforcement authorities urge members of the public, particularly medical practitioners, to remain vigilant and report any individuals seeking medical attention for gunshot wounds. Such information is crucial for further investigation and apprehension of the fleeing suspects.
