In a significant stride towards fortifying the training infrastructure of the Nigeria Police Force, the Global Security-Sector-Reform Foundation (GS-Foundation) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have collaborated to provide essential resources to three Police Colleges and one Training School across Nigeria. The donation encompasses printed training manuals, curriculum materials, office furniture, fittings, and equipment, all aimed at bolstering the operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Federal Republic of Germany has played a pivotal role in funding this initiative, marking a crucial step in the ongoing police reform project undertaken by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The official handover of the donated items took place in the presence of high-ranking officials, including the Inspector General of Police, represented by Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Training and Development, DIG Frank Emeka Mba, mni. The beneficiary institutions include Police colleges located in Oji River, Maiduguri, Kaduna, and Ilorin, where the delivered resources are expected to meet the specific needs of these vital training establishments.

Ambassador Annett Günter of the Federal Republic of Germany, Matthias Seeger, Project Manager and Team Lead of the GS-Foundation in Nigeria, and Simon Ridley, UNDP’s Chief Technical Advisor on Rule of Law and Human Rights, were actively involved in facilitating the handover process. These representatives commended the dedication and professionalism exhibited by the Nigerian Police, emphasizing that the provision of modern equipment and advanced IT resources significantly enhances their capabilities, contributing to community security and overall operational efficiency.
Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, underscored the pivotal role of well-equipped police colleges in driving the comprehensive reform agenda. Expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts, IGP Egbetokun emphasized that the donated resources would substantially elevate training platforms not only in Oji River, Maiduguri, Kaduna, and Ilorin but also in all other training facilities under the purview of the Nigeria Police Force. He acknowledged the prior contributions of the GS-Foundation and the German Government to various training facilities, recognizing their continued commitment to advancing the capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, highlighted the significance of this donation in reinforcing the commitment to professional development within the Nigeria Police Force. The gesture is anticipated to have a lasting impact on the quality of training provided to law enforcement personnel, ultimately contributing to enhanced public safety and security nationwide.
