President Tinubu mourns iconic artiste Onyeka Onwenu

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to the family of the late Ms. Onyeka Onwenu, a renowned singer, songwriter, actor, journalist, activist, and politician. Tinubu paid tribute to the “Queen of Songs,” reminiscing about her uplifting and harmonious anthem “One Love” from the 1990s, which inspired a spirit of unity.
In a statement Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the President highlighted her significant contributions to the arts and public welfare, notably her collaboration with King Sunny Ade on the family planning campaign song “Wait for Me” in the 1980s. President Tinubu honored Onwenu’s diverse talents and celebrated her ability to bring joy and laughter to many through her artistic endeavors.

Offering his condolences to the entertainment industry, the Imo State Government, and her numerous fans, President Tinubu lamented the immense loss. He prayed for the repose of her soul, hoping she finds eternal peace where the music never fades and there is “Dancing in the Sun.” He affirmed that Onyeka Onwenu’s legacy lives on through her timeless masterpieces.
