In a commendable display of vigilance, the dedicated operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended a twenty-year-old ex-convict, Abdul-Lateef Mutiu, at approximately 9:30 p.m. yesterday. The suspect was arrested after he brazenly snatched an Infinix Hot 30 Play smartphone, valued at N93,000:00, from an UBER driver within the Ketu vicinity.
Upon perpetrating the theft, the suspect, sensing imminent capture, attempted to flee the scene. However, the determined RRS officers successfully apprehended him in swift fashion.
During subsequent questioning, the suspect confessed to having engaged in criminal activities within the Ketu area since 2018. Remarkably, this incident marked the third time he had found himself on the wrong side of the law.
In response to the incident, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, has ordered the immediate return of the stolen phone to its rightful owner. Furthermore, he has directed that the suspect be promptly charged to court to face the legal consequences of his actions.
