Security forces have been deployed to track down armed bandits who abducted 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi, conveyed the Commissioner’s message on behalf of the Command said the incident occurred in the early hours of November 17, 2025, when armed bandits reportedly stormed the school around 4:00 a.m., shooting sporadically. Police tactical units stationed within the school engaged the attackers in a gun battle, but the assailants had already scaled the school’s perimeter fence and kidnapped the students from their hostel.
He added that during the attack, one resident identified as Hassan Makuku was shot dead, while another victim, Ali Shehu, sustained an injury to his right hand.
Following the incident, additional police tactical units, military personnel, and vigilante groups were deployed to the area. The combined team is currently combing suspected bandit routes and surrounding forests in an intensive search-and-rescue operation aimed at locating the abducted students and apprehending the perpetrators.
Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security operations.
