The Federal Government has expressed strong concern over the abduction of female students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, assuring families of the victims of its unwavering commitment to securing their safe return.
In a statement, Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed that the protection of all Nigerians, particularly schoolchildren, remains a fundamental responsibility of the State. He condemned the attack, describing it as a heinous assault on innocent students and the tragic killing of school officials performing their lawful duties.
The President has issued firm directives to security and intelligence agencies to locate and rescue the abducted students and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice. The Federal Government emphasized that it will not relent until the girls are safely reunited with their families.
Reiterating its commitment to national security, the government stated that ongoing reforms are strengthening the country’s military, policing, and intelligence architecture to prevent future attacks and ensure rapid, coordinated responses to emerging threats.
Nigeria is also enhancing collaboration with regional partners through ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to secure borders and dismantle terrorist and criminal networks across the region.
The public was urged to remain calm and assured that security forces are working tirelessly to resolve the situation.
