In a concerted effort to realize the administration’s vision of bolstering opportunities for Nigeria’s youth, Vice President Kashim Shettima has officially inaugurated a technical committee to initiate the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) Programme. The initiative signals a pivotal step towards fostering a more vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly within the realms of digital and creative industries.
Expressing confidence in the program’s potential, Vice President Shettima remarked, “I have no doubt that this programme will open new vistas of opportunities for our youths.” He emphasized that the launch represents the dawn of a new era in Nigeria, underscoring the significance of empowering young talents in driving economic growth and innovation.
The iDICE Programme, a collaborative endeavor between the Nigerian government and esteemed international partners such as the Bank of Industry (BoI), African Development Bank (AfDB), French Development Agency (FDA), and Islamic Development Bank (IDB), is strategically designed to nurture and empower enterprises within the digital and creative sectors.
Endorsing the initiative’s implementation, the National Economic Council (NEC) confirmed its support during its last meeting in March. The council’s endorsement paved the way for the rollout of the $617.7 million iDICE programme across the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking on the significance of the iDICE Programme, Vice President Shettima remarked, “I am optimistic about this initiative’s potential to redefine the nation’s digital and creative landscape.” He highlighted that the program signifies a journey characterized by innovation, collaboration, and boundless opportunity, which holds the power to reshape Nigeria’s trajectory in the digital and creative spheres.
With the launch of the iDICE Programme, Nigeria embarks on a transformative journey aimed at harnessing the talents and potential of its youth to drive sustainable economic development and prosperity.
