A group of stranded Nigerian workers in the Central African Republic (CAR) have been successfully rescued and are now under the protection of the Nigerian Embassy in Bangui. The operation, which brought relief to the affected individuals and their families, was the result of prompt diplomatic coordination between the Nigerian government and authorities in the Central African Republic.

The rescue followed distress reports from the stranded Nigerians, who were reportedly facing deteriorating living conditions and insecurity in parts of the country. Upon receiving the alerts, officials at the Nigerian Embassy in Bangui swiftly mobilized efforts to locate and evacuate the citizens to safety.

A statement from the Embassy confirmed that the rescued individuals are in stable condition and are receiving the necessary support, including shelter, medical attention, and consular assistance.

The Nigerian government expressed deep appreciation to the Government of the Central African Republic for its cooperation and assistance in facilitating the safe recovery of its nationals. It also commended the Embassy staff for their professionalism, dedication, and timely intervention.

“This successful rescue operation is a testament to the importance of active diplomacy and the protection of Nigerian citizens abroad,” a senior foreign affairs official stated.

Efforts are currently underway to arrange the safe return of the rescued individuals to Nigeria, pending the conclusion of necessary travel documentation and logistics.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Nigerians in the diaspora and urged citizens facing difficulties abroad to report promptly to the nearest diplomatic or consular office for assistance.
