President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 50 doctors and 100 nurses to enhance healthcare services for inmates in correctional centres nationwide.
A statement by Babatunde Alao, spokesperson for the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, confirmed the approval, which also includes posting National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) doctors to correctional facilities. Furthermore, the Minister revealed presidential approval for establishing a National Paramilitary Academy, similar to the Nigerian Defence Academy, to provide degree-level training for future paramilitary officers.
On visa issuance, he confirmed that all Nigerian visas would now be applied for online and processed within 48 to 72 hours. Regarding national security, he reiterated government efforts to enhance the Private Guard sector through the automation of processes via the Guard Management System.
