Tinubu commissions projects in Borno, hails Zulum’s exceptional performance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday commissioned three newly constructed mega schools and a fleet of 620 fully electric vehicles and tricycles delivered by the Borno State Government, describing the performance of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum as exceptional.

The commissioning ceremonies, which were conducted separately, formed part of the President’s state visit to Borno State. Speaking at the events, President Tinubu praised Governor Zulum for what he described as transformative and people-centred leadership.

“I congratulate the Governor and the people of Borno State for this transformation. Government is all about people, and Professor Zulum is doing a very good job of caring for people,” the President said.

He noted that the projects represent clear evidence of effective governance and serve as a practical blueprint for holistic development at the sub-national level.

The commissioned educational facilities are Mafoni Day Secondary School, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Government Day Secondary School, and Mafoni Primary School. The schools are part of Governor Zulum’s 104 Mega School Initiative aimed at significantly improving access to quality education and rebuilding the sector after more than a decade of insurgency.

Each of the schools is equipped with modern classrooms, science laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and administrative complexes designed to provide a conducive learning environment for students and teachers.

President Tinubu also commissioned the international terminal of the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Maiduguri, in preparation for the commencement of international flight operations.

In his remarks, Governor Zulum expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for its continued support and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rebuilding Borno State’s infrastructure, economy, and human capital.

The events were attended by senior federal and state government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders.

The President concluded his visit by attending the wedding ceremony of the son of former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, held at the Maiduguri Central Mosque.
