Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded further operational successes in Borno State with the discovery and neutralisation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and the arrest of suspected Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) logistics suppliers.
In statement signed by Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI Lieut. Col. Sani Uba, the operations were conducted under Operations Desert Sanity IV and V, according to a statement from the task force.
In one operation, troops of 25 Brigade, while on a Main Supply Route (MSR) patrol along the Damboa–Komala axis on December 17, 2025, discovered an IED planted along the route. The device was promptly secured and safely detonated by the troops, preventing potential harm to both military personnel and civilians using the road.
In a separate intelligence-led operation on December 19, 2025, troops of OPHK deployed at a checkpoint along the Maiduguri–Bama Road intercepted a Lagos-registered vehicle with registration number AKD 244 YE. The vehicle was found to be conveying large quantities of food items and energy drinks suspected to be intended as logistics supplies for Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists operating around Kirawa Ward in Gwoza Local Government Area.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident. Items recovered from the vehicle included assorted foodstuffs and energy drinks, three mobile phones, an identity card, a ring, and sums of money in both Nigerian Naira and CFA francs.
The suspects, along with the vehicle and recovered items, have been handed over to the appropriate military intelligence unit for further investigation and necessary action.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism and urged them to sustain the current operational tempo. It reaffirmed the Nigerian military’s commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action, disrupting their logistics networks, and ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the North-East region.
