Tinubu congratulates Interface Africa on winning £1.5m NextGen innovation challenge

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Al’amin Muhammed Idris, Chief Executive Officer of Interface Africa, on the company’s outstanding performance at the NextGen Innovation Challenge, where it emerged winner and received a £1.5 million cash award.

Interface Africa, representing Kaduna State, clinched the top prize at the grand finale of the competition held on Thursday at the Hilton London Paddington.

The NextGen Innovation Challenge is a national initiative of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), organised in partnership with UKALD London, to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among Nigerian youth. The programme is inspired by President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to harness the creativity and technological capacity of young Nigerians for national development.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Interface Africa for its innovative work in providing affordable solar financing solutions to small businesses across Africa. He expressed optimism that the prize money will further strengthen the company’s mission to expand access to clean and sustainable energy in underserved communities.

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for youth innovation, noting that “the innovative potential of Nigerian youths is boundless.”

He also applauded the other 104 participants in the challenge for their ingenuity and resilience, urging them to continue developing solutions that improve lives and shape the future of humanity.
