President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Nigerian military, the Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down and apprehend those responsible for the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State, insisting that the perpetrators must be swiftly brought to justice.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the DSS to intensify coordinated operations aimed at arresting the attackers and rescuing all abducted victims without delay.
The directive followed the killing of villagers and the abduction of women and children in Kasuwan Daji by terrorists believed to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara states after a United States air strike on Christmas Eve.
President Tinubu strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a test of the nation’s resolve, and extended his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Niger State.
“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down,” the President said, warning that anyone aiding or abetting the criminals would also be held accountable.
He assured residents of Niger State that security agencies have been mandated to step up operations around vulnerable communities, particularly those located near forests that have served as hideouts for criminal elements.
The President also called on Nigerians to remain united and resolute, urging restraint against divisive rhetoric that could undermine national security and cohesion during the period.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary, and reclaim peace and security for these communities,” he said.
