Tinubu urges APC governors to prioritize national interest in policy formulation

In a meeting with members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) at the State House in Abuja on Friday, President Bola Tinubu implored governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to design and implement policies that prioritize the well-being of all Nigerians and to consistently consider the national interest over political affiliations.

Highlighting the significance of inclusive, ownership-oriented, and sustainable development policies, President Tinubu emphasized that such initiatives would only have meaningful impact in the lives of the people. Addressing the governors, he stressed the need to overcome the prevailing divisiveness in the nation, identifying it as one of the most pressing challenges. He urged the APC to focus on healing and unifying the country by fostering a collective national vision, while channeling energy and resources into nation-building.

President Tinubu conveyed to the governors that persuasion and appeals should be employed to bring more individuals into the APC fold. He underscored the belief that the nation, endowed with abundant human, natural, and material resources, should not be grappling with deficiencies in quality infrastructure, education, and healthcare facilities.

During the meeting, the President disclosed plans to re-engineer the entire financial system of the country with the aim of achieving inclusivity, effectiveness, and efficiency. He asserted that Nigeria, despite facing challenges, is not a cursed nation but rather one that is blessed.

In reflection, President Tinubu questioned the reasons behind the country’s infrastructural decay, inadequate education, and lack of quality health facilities. He reiterated his firm conviction that Nigeria has no justification for being in a state of poverty and advocated for concerted efforts to leverage the nation’s blessings for the betterment of its citizens.
