Transcorp Hilton Abuja, in partnership with Connected Development (CODE), commemorated the 2025 Earth Hour with a series of impactful activities focused on raising awareness about climate change and promoting sustainable practices. The event, themed “Give an Hour for Earth,” took place at the hotel’s lobby from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, bringing together environmental advocates, guests, and performers in a shared commitment to protecting the planet.

The evening opened with a welcome by Ms. Ijeoma Osuji, E-commerce Manager at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, setting the tone for a night of reflection and action. The AMEMUSO choir delivered a stirring musical performance, creating an atmosphere of harmony and environmental awareness.

In his remarks, Transcorp Hilton Abuja’s Hotel Manager, Mohammed Said Khali, highlighted the hotel’s dedication to sustainability, emphasizing initiatives such as waste recycling and energy conservation. “We observe Earth Hour alongside Hilton properties and millions worldwide in the fight against climate change. Sustainability is at the core of our operations,” Khali stated.

Hamzat Lawal, CEO of CODE, reinforced the importance of Earth Hour and its alignment with World Water Day, calling for urgent action on clean energy solutions and sustainable living. “Tonight, we reflect on our impact on the planet. We must work together to drive meaningful change,” he urged.

A highlight of the evening was a live demonstration by The Upcycling Architect (TUPA), who transformed plastic waste into functional and artistic pieces, showcasing the potential of creative recycling.

The event also featured a youth debate titled “Is Climate Change Good?” with students from Government Secondary Schools Kubwa and Wuse presenting contrasting viewpoints, fostering critical thinking on climate issues.

Guests joined the AMEMUSO choir in a scenic musical procession from the lobby to the pool and back, symbolizing unity and hope for a sustainable future. Participants concluded the evening by making personal sustainability pledges, reinforcing their commitment to environmental stewardship.

The 2025 Earth Hour event at Transcorp Hilton Abuja successfully united diverse voices in a collective pledge to safeguard the planet, underscoring the urgent need for climate action and sustainable living.
