Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has extended an olive branch to his opponent, Asue Ighodalo, after the Elections Tribunal upheld his victory in the 2025 gubernatorial election.
The tribunal, in its ruling on Wednesday, April 2, dismissed all petitions challenging the election, affirming that it was conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Owaen Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo dedicated the victory to the people of Edo State, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support.
He commended the tribunal for its diligence and fairness, emphasizing that the ruling reaffirms the integrity of the democratic process. “This victory is not mine alone, but a victory for every citizen and residen of Edo State. It is a mandate to continue the work we have started, to build a state where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We remain committed to our promise of good governance, transparency, and inclusive development.”
Calling for unity, he urged the opposition, including PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo, to join hands in moving Edo State forward. He stressed the need to put aside political differences and focus on collective progress.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and delivering impactful governance, undeterred by legal challenges.
