EFCC presents more evidence in alleged $9.6B P&ID fraud case

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has submitted additional evidence against Kore Holdings Limited in the ongoing trial over the alleged $9.6 billion Process & Industrial Development (P&ID) fraud. The case, before Justice J. O. Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, involves charges of non-compliance with regulatory requirements, money laundering, and other financial infractions.

Kore Holdings is being prosecuted alongside its late representative, Muhammed Kuchazi, on an amended four-count charge. During Wednesday’s proceedings, the second prosecution witness (PW2), Umar Umar, presented eleven documents as evidence while testifying under the guidance of EFCC counsel Bala Sangha. The documents included requests to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML), as well as statements from Kuchazi and other company directors.

Umar clarified that Kore Holdings Limited remains an active entity in Nigeria, based on investigations and interactions with the CAC and First Bank of Nigeria. He further testified that Kuchazi and Kore Holdings facilitated meetings between former Petroleum Minister Rilwanu Lukman and P&ID, securing a three percent share of net profits from the project. Kuchazi later testified against Nigeria in a High Court case in England and Wales in early 2023, where the ruling favored Nigeria.

Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the trial to September 24, 2025, for further proceedings.
