Troops of 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN, in collaboration with an intelligence agency, have arrested two notorious gunrunners and recovered weapons during intelligence-led operations in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
According to Media Information Officer, Operation SAFE HAVEN Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the operation, conducted in the early hours of May 11, 2025, at Marit Mazat, followed the earlier arrest of a known gunrunner and kidnapper, Mr. Yahaya Adamu, on May 10 in Barakin Gangare, Barkin Ladi LGA. During the follow-up raid, troops apprehended Mr. Saeedu Haruna and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and an ITEL mobile phone.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects and their syndicate are behind numerous criminal activities across Gashish and Kurra Falls in Barkin Ladi LGA, as well as Gwantu and Fadan Karshe in Sanga LGA of Kaduna State. Both suspects are currently in custody and providing useful information, while security forces continue efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover additional weapons.
Operation SAFE HAVEN commended the cooperation of local communities and urged continued provision of credible intelligence to aid in the crackdown on criminal elements and to enhance protection of lives and property within the Joint Operations Area.
