Troops neutralize Boko Haram fighters in Sambisa offensive

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralized several Boko Haram insurgents and recovered weapons during a renewed offensive in the Sambisa Forest on May 11, 2025.

In a statement, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Captain Reuben Kovangiya said the operation, conducted in Ladin Buttu — a key terrorist enclave — resulted in a fierce exchange of fire, during which five insurgents were killed. Troops recovered five fully loaded AK-47 rifle magazines along with other military ordnance.

He said subsequent searches of the area revealed blood trails along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes, indicating that additional fighters sustained gunshot wounds during their retreat. Ladin Buttu is considered a strategic hub for Boko Haram, facilitating their logistics and internal movements within the forest.

The leadership of Operation HADIN KAI praised the troops for their bravery and tactical effectiveness, noting that the success aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s directive to intensify offensive operations on all fronts.
