Troops from Operation HADARIN DAJI are actively engaged in intense combat operations in and around the Zurmi Local Government Area. The military faces a complex battle environment, with multiple factors influencing both on and off the battlefield scenarios.
According to the Director, Defence Media Operations Major General Edward Buba, the troops contend with dual realities: the on-ground situation and a distorted virtual reality propagated on social media. Reports claiming that over 500 individuals were abducted by terrorists are exaggerated. In reality, troops confirm only four abductions. Similar inflation of figures was seen during the Kuriga abduction incident.
Buba said the current military leadership has prioritized addressing troop rotation and overstaying issues. Significant steps have been taken to enhance troop welfare and administration. Soldiers demonstrate strong resolve and determination to continue their mission until the complete defeat of terrorist factions.
He added that the military acknowledges the need for continued efforts to secure citizens and protect them from terrorism and there is ongoing cooperation with the Zamfara State Community Protection Guard to safeguard farmlands, especially with the rainy season approaching. Details of other ongoing operations remain confidential for strategic reasons.
Babu futher said the military remains confident in its position, having inflicted heavy losses on terrorist leaders. He said the efforts to combat terrorism are yielding significant results, with terrorists bearing a heavier toll than the military.
