Troops dismantle illegal arms factory, arrest two suspects in Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing syndicate in Kebbi State, arresting two suspected gun manufacturers and recovering five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles in a major blow to terrorist logistics in the region.

In a statement, Media Information Officer Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA Lieut. Col. Aliyu Danja said the operation, carried out on the strength of credible intelligence, targeted a secluded compound allegedly used by the suspects to manufacture and supply locally made firearms to terrorist groups operating within and around the state.

Military authorities said troops conducted a meticulously planned raid on the facility, where a thorough search led to the recovery of five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and the arrest of two suspected members of the arms production and supply network.

The successful operation was executed in collaboration with other security agencies, underscoring the growing effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in the ongoing campaign to dismantle terrorist support structures and criminal networks across the North-West.

Security officials described the raid as another significant milestone in Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s sustained offensive against the proliferation of illicit weapons, noting that disrupting illegal arms production remains critical to denying terrorists the means to carry out attacks.

The arrested suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary interrogation, while investigations have commenced to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, uncover its financiers and collaborators, and dismantle the entire illegal arms supply chain.

The Theatre Command commended the professionalism and dedication of the troops and partner security agencies involved in the operation, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist and criminal elements across the region.

It also appealed to residents of the North-West to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains essential to ongoing efforts to enhance security and restore lasting peace in the region.
