Bayo Ojulari has officially assumed office as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), succeeding Mele Kyari. The leadership transition was marked by a brief but symbolic handover ceremony at the NNPC Towers on Friday.

According to Chief Corporate Communications Officer NNPC Ltd. Olufemi Soneye, during the event, Ojulari praised Kyari for his visionary leadership and contributions to the transformation of NNPC Ltd. under his tenure. He commended the outgoing GCEO for steering the company through a critical phase in its corporate evolution, particularly following its transition from a government-owned corporation to a commercially driven entity.

Ojulari outlined his commitment to consolidating on Kyari’s achievements, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving further growth. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the collective effort of the management and staff.

“The targets set for this administration are enormous, but with the cooperation of our dedicated workforce, strategic partnerships, and continued stakeholder engagement, we will achieve them,” Ojulari stated. “I will be counting on your support. I will need it. I will be coming around to seek your counsel,” he added, directly addressing Kyari.

In his farewell remarks, Kyari expressed confidence in Ojulari’s ability to lead NNPC Ltd. into its next phase of growth. He reflected on his tenure, highlighting key milestones such as increased oil production, enhanced energy security, and strengthened gas commercialization efforts. He thanked the management and staff for their unwavering support during his time in office.

Kyari also assured Ojulari of his full support, pledging to be available whenever needed. “Leadership is about continuity, and I am only a call away,” he said, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in sustaining the company’s progress.

With this transition, industry stakeholders are looking forward to Ojulari’s leadership in advancing NNPC Ltd.’s strategic objectives, fostering innovation, and maintaining Nigeria’s position as a key player in the global energy sector.
