Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have sustained a relentless offensive against terrorist elements operating within the Sububu Forest, as security forces intensify efforts to dismantle criminal enclaves in the North West.
Troops of Sector 2, 8 Division, advancing into identified terrorist hideouts, engaged hostile elements in Indulumu and Ruduno villages, where several terrorists were neutralised during fierce encounters. In the course of the operation, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, one magazine loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition and a pair of woodland camouflage uniforms. Two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility and attacks were also destroyed.
Maintaining operational momentum, the troops conducted extensive exploitation of the forest, uncovering and destroying several terrorist camps and life-support structures, thereby significantly degrading the group’s logistical and operational capabilities.
In a notable development, the troops successfully rescued a 13-year-old kidnapping victim, Halira Ibrahim, further underscoring their commitment to the protection of civilians.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA, military authorities said, remains resolute in its mission to deny terrorists safe haven and to restore lasting peace and security across the North West region.
