Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have recorded a major breakthrough in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign in the North East with the interception of a huge cache of logistics supplies believed to be destined for terrorist groups operating across Nigeria’s borders.
According to Media Information Officer Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI Lieut. Col. Sani Uba, troops under Operation Desert Sanity IV acted on credible intelligence on September 16, 2025, and at about 7:40 a.m. stopped a red 14-tyre trailer during snap checks along the Nguru–Gashua highway in Yobe State.
The trailer was later moved to a secured location where its contents were carefully offloaded. Upon inspection later that evening around 9:00 p.m., troops discovered 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer, 27 cartons of assorted drugs, and nine cartons of normal saline solution, all concealed under bundles of fabric materials.
Military investigators said the seized items, particularly the fertilizer, were critical to the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), while the fabrics were suspected to be intended for the production of uniforms for insurgent fighters.
The consignment was reportedly meant to be transported onward to Niger Republic, pointing to a cross-border terrorist supply chain that sustains extremist groups in the region.

Earlier that same day, at about 10:30 a.m., troops on the same axis also intercepted two Sharon buses and another trailer transporting large quantities of fabrics and solar panels. Intelligence suggested that the fabrics were meant for uniforms while the solar panels would support insurgent camps in remote areas.
All drivers, their assistants, and the recovered consignments are now in custody. Authorities say further investigations are underway to identify and arrest the consignees and consignors linked to the smuggling operation.
The Theatre Command of Operation Hadin Kai commended the troops for their vigilance, describing the interception as a significant blow to the logistics and operational capacity of terrorists in the region. It stressed that cutting off supply chains is key to weakening the insurgents.
The Command also assured residents of the North East that security forces remain alert and committed to dismantling all networks that support terrorism, while calling on communities to continue to provide timely intelligence to aid ongoing operations.
The Defence Headquarters equally lauded the troops’ performance, noting that their actions demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations in denying terrorists the resources needed to sustain their campaigns.
