Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, under the mandate of Operation WUTAN DAJI, have neutralised two suspected terrorists, dismantled criminal hideouts, and arrested a suspected kidnapper during coordinated clearance operations in Plateau State.
The military disclosed that the operations, conducted on April 4, 2026, targeted insurgent enclaves in Babangida, Adua, and Bokayi villages within the Dutsen Zaki forest in Wase Local Government Area. Working alongside local vigilantes, troops engaged armed elements along the Babangida–Adua road in a firefight that resulted in the death of two suspects, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm, a belt containing 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a cutlass.
In a separate operation on April 5, 2026, troops deployed to Namu District in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area intercepted four suspected terrorists following intelligence on suspicious armed movements at about 7:45 a.m. The suspects were found in possession of 100 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Military authorities said efforts to dismantle the group’s hideout triggered a gun battle with accomplices. During the exchange, three of the arrested suspects attempted to escape and were reportedly killed in crossfire involving their associates.
Meanwhile, in Shendam Local Government Area, troops in collaboration with local residents apprehended a suspected kidnapper at Gidan Mangoro village at about 9:35 a.m. The suspect is believed to be linked to a kidnapping incident reported in the area on April 3, 2026, and is currently in custody pending further investigation.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and security in Plateau State and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
