Troops neutralise terrorists, recover weapons and rustled livestock in Sokoto, Katsina

Troops of Sector 2, Operation Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised several terrorists and recovered firearms and rustled livestock in coordinated offensive operations across Sokoto and Katsina States.

According to a statement by Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army / Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA Lieut. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, in Sokoto State, troops responded to a distress call over an attempted attack by the Lakurawa terrorist group on a Nigerian Immigration Service facility at Ruwa Wiri Village in Tangaza Local Government Area.

On arrival, the troops engaged the assailants in a firefight, neutralising two terrorists, while others fled due to superior firepower. A follow-up clearance operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and a motorcycle.

He said tn a separate operation in Katsina State, troops on a fighting patrol encountered terrorists moving rustled cattle at Danya Bakwai Settlement in Jibia Local Government Area.

The troops engaged the criminals, forcing them to abandon 62 rustled livestock, which were recovered and later handed over to their rightful owners at the palace of the District Head in Daddara, Jibia LGA.

The military said the operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West region.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to restoring security and urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies.
