Troops neutralise two bandits, recover weapons in Plateau

Troops of the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN have neutralised two suspected bandits and recovered arms, ammunition, and other items during a raid on a criminal hideout in Teng Mountain/Forest, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to Media Information Officer Operation SAFE HAVEN Major Samson Nantip Zhakom , the intelligence-led operation was carried out on May 12, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal elements within the Joint Operations Area. According to Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for Operation SAFE HAVEN, troops engaged the suspects in a firefight and overpowered them with superior firepower.

Items recovered from the hideout include One AK-47 rifle, One AK-47 magazine, One locally fabricated rifle chambered for 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, Seven rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, Four mobile phones, Two motorcycles and ₦157,900 in cash

The recovered weapons are currently in military custody, while the mobile phones are being analyzed to aid in the identification and capture of other members of the criminal syndicate.

Operation SAFE HAVEN reaffirmed its commitment to flushing out criminal elements in Plateau and surrounding states. “The activities of these dangerous criminals will be met with stiff resistance,” Major Zhakom stated, adding that offensive operations will be sustained to restore peace and security in the region.
