Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have eliminated three notorious terrorist kingpins in a decisive ambush conducted on July 25, 2025, in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
In a statement, Media Information Officer Operation FANSAN YAMMA Captain David Adewusi said the operation, carried out between Mallamawa and Mazau villages in the Tsamaye/Mai Lalle District, resulted in the neutralization of identified kingpins — Kachalla Nagomma, Gurmu, and Ali Yar Daribiyar. The troops also recovered three AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, and a motorcycle.
According to military sources, the terrorists were in the area to collect ransom and illegal levies imposed on local residents when they were intercepted by troops. The operation has since triggered widespread relief and celebrations among residents of Mai Lalle, Tsamaye, Rimaye, and other neighboring communities in Sabon Birni and Goronyo LGAs.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and stability across the Northwest and parts of the North Central region, while urging the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
