In the ongoing clearance operation of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, which covers Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, significant progress continues to be made. The troops have achieved notable successes in neutralizing armed bandits, rescuing kidnapped victims, recovering stolen items, and dismantling bandits’ hideouts in the Northwest region.
One such instance occurred on August 3rd, 2023, when armed bandits attempted to infiltrate and attack Isa Local Government Area in Sokoto state. However, the highly vigilant troops stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Isa responded swiftly and effectively, repelling the attack with their superior firepower. The bandits were forced to flee with gunshot wounds, leaving traces of blood stains along their escape routes during the pursuit.

In a separate operation, the troops of Team 8 from Sector 3 Operation Hadarin Daji, deployed in Sokoto state at Sabon Birni, conducted clearance operations that resulted in the discovery and destruction of several bandits’ hideouts. These hideouts were located in Kusabunni Forest, Tafkin Gawo, Alumdawa, Ungwar Mailele, and Malamawa villages. Although the bandits managed to flee and abandon their hideouts before the troops’ arrival, the operation was successful in recovering valuable items. Among the items seized were 3 motorcycles, 3 AK-47 magazines, and ammunition. Additionally, various pairs of military and foreign camouflage uniforms, including police uniforms, were found along with a radio.

In response to a distress call about bandit kidnappings and livestock rustling, the troops of Sector 2 in Katsina state promptly initiated an offensive operation along the withdrawal routes of the abductors in Kore town, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina state. The timely response of the troops forced the bandits to abandon their captives and the rustled animals as they fled upon sighting the approaching troops.

Also, in Katsina state, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji successfully rescued four individuals who had been abducted from their farmlands by armed bandits near Ungwan Madugu in Dandume LGA. The bandits abandoned their captives and fled when the troops, working in conjunction with vigilantes, reached the scene and executed the rescue operation. The rescued victims were safely returned to their families, while the recovered cattle were returned to their rightful owners.
The continued success of these operations demonstrates the dedication, vigilance, and effectiveness of the Troops of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji in maintaining security and combating banditry in the region.
