Troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralise terrorists, foil attacks across North East

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East, have recorded significant operational successes against terrorists in Borno and Adamawa States, neutralising threats and securing key locations between October 25 and 31, 2025.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the troops thwarted multiple terrorist attacks, including an attempted suicide bombing in Kukawa, an ambush along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, and the interception of terrorist logistics networks.

On October 25, troops foiled an attempt by terrorists to breach Kukawa Town using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED). The attackers were repelled after the VBIED was destroyed by a T-55 tank, averting a potential disaster. A 10-year-old civilian girl sustained minor injuries and was treated at a medical facility.

In a separate operation, troops working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) safely discovered and disposed of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Dikwa–Ajiri axis, preventing sabotage on major supply routes.

On October 29, troops of 192 Battalion (Main), in collaboration with the CJTF, ambushed terrorists in the Mandara Mountains, neutralising two and recovering bicycles and food supplies. The same day, under Operation Strangulation, troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical) intercepted smuggled petroleum products and motorcycles in Mubi South, Adamawa State. The smugglers fled on sighting the troops, and the items were seized for investigation.

Additionally, a cordon-and-search operation on October 30 led to the arrest of five Boko Haram/ISWAP suspects attempting to infiltrate Sabon Gari village in Madagali Local Government Area. Items recovered included a desert camouflage uniform, ammunition, and narcotics.

Troops of 202 Battalion also engaged terrorists attempting to move from the Gezuwa axis to Sambisa Forest along the Bama–Konduga Main Supply Route, forcing them to retreat after sustained fire.

The Air Component of OPHK provided critical air support through precision strikes and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, enabling ground forces to recover an AK-47 rifle, linked ammunition, and bicycles during follow-up exploitation operations on October 31.

No casualties were recorded among the troops.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and dedication to restoring peace and stability in the North East. It reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to eliminating terrorism, dismantling insurgent networks, and protecting civilians across the region.
