Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, have successfully rescued six kidnapped victims, including a child, during a joint clearance operation in Taraba State under Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the rescue took place in the early hours of October 2, 2025, following a swift response to a distress call.

The statement explained that the victims were abducted after suspected kidnappers intercepted a Toyota Carina II vehicle traveling from Katsina-Ala in Benue State. The armed men reportedly forced the vehicle to a halt around an abandoned checkpoint before taking the passengers into the bush.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops of 6 Brigade, alongside police operatives, launched an immediate search operation in the area, leading to the safe rescue of the abducted persons — identified as Mr. Terna Gbaya (43), Mr. Musa Adamu (55), Mrs. Rose Sor (35), Mrs. Lydia Vyiashima (40), Mrs. Comfort Iyofar (60), and a baby.

The victims have since been reunited with their families, while search and rescue operations continue to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the release of any other possible captives.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the prompt response and effective synergy between the troops and the Police. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Taraba State.
