Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded a series of operational successes, including the foiling of a coordinated terrorist attack, arrest of suspected collaborators, rescue of kidnapped victims, and the surrender of individuals linked to terrorist networks.
In a statement, Media Information Officer Headquarters, Joint Task Force North East
Operation HADIN KAI Lieut. Col. Sani Uba said in one of the key incidents, troops deployed at Forward Operating Base Gajibo successfully repelled an attempted attack by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters who advanced towards the community on motorcycles and in multiple formations.
The terrorists were detected before reaching their target, prompting a swift response from troops who engaged them with superior firepower, including mortar support. The attackers were forced to retreat in disarray. Subsequent clearance operations led to the recovery of ammunition and combat-related materials, with no casualties recorded on the side of the military.
In separate operations, troops working alongside operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) arrested two suspected Boko Haram collaborators in Gubio town. The suspects, identified as cattle rearers, are currently in custody and undergoing investigation.
Similarly, acting on intelligence provided by a surrendered associate of terrorist groups, troops arrested a suspected logistics supplier, Umar Ahmadu, in Gwoza. He reportedly confessed to multiple instances of supplying materials to insurgents and is being interrogated for further intelligence.
In a related development, a 17-year-old relative of a terrorist surrendered to troops along the Gwoza–Limankara axis after escaping from a hideout in the Mandara Mountains. Preliminary assessments indicate that sustained military pressure and worsening conditions within the enclave influenced his decision to defect.
Troops also intercepted and rescued two men abducted from Mafa town. The victims were found after escaping captivity under difficult conditions and have since been handed over for medical attention and further processing.
Military authorities say the coordinated operations reflect sustained pressure on terrorist networks, particularly targeting their logistics chains, mobility, and local support structures.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining an aggressive operational posture aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace, security, and economic stability across the North-East theatre.
