Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims during a counter-terrorism operation along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In a statement Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA Lieut. Col. Aliyu Danja said the rescue operation followed a distress call from residents reporting terrorist activities in the area on September 3, 2026.
Acting on the information, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, swiftly mobilised to the location and engaged the terrorists.
The troops brought superior firepower to bear, forcing the terrorists to flee into the surrounding bush and abandon their victims.
A subsequent search of the area led to the rescue of the three kidnapped victims and the recovery of two vehicles allegedly used by the terrorists.
The victims and recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume, while troops maintained an aggressive presence in the area through sustained patrols to prevent the terrorists from regrouping or regaining freedom of action.
The operation underscores the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property and denying criminal and terrorist elements operational space across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force commended residents for their continued cooperation and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest security formation to facilitate swift intervention.
