The University of Abuja has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Universidade do Estado da Bahia, Brazil, to strengthen academic and professional collaboration between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed in Brasília on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, by the Rector of the Universidade do Estado da Bahia, Professor Adriana dos Santos Marmori Lima, and the Director of Advancement and International Linkages of the University of Abuja, Professor Olanrewaju Aladeitan, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi.
Under the agreement, both institutions will promote staff and student exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, short-term training opportunities, and the sharing of academic publications, teaching materials and other scholarly resources.
Commenting on the partnership, Fawehinmi described the agreement as a strategic move aimed at expanding the University of Abuja’s global academic engagement and creating wider opportunities for students and staff.
“This agreement with the Universidade do Estado da Bahia will create great opportunities for students and staff of both institutions,” he said.
“We look forward to productive collaboration that will benefit both institutions through strong academic exchange and cooperation.”
The latest development comes as the University of Abuja continues to expand its international partnerships, with discussions reportedly ongoing with four other Brazilian universities on possible areas of academic collaboration.
